Iliza Shlesinger Chicago Concert reviews
Concert was good but…
Amazing act, horrible crowd
Iliza was amazing but let me start off by saying I’ve never been to a show where so many people were up and down the entire time. I spent 75% of the show trying to look around entire rows of people standing up to go to the bathroom. Not to mention all the drunk people yelling stuff at her and stumbling around the venue. My heart sank for Iliza as we watched a talented and highly experienced comedian lose her train of thought time and time again because of the disrespect of the older audience. The amount of legless 50 year olds was shocking. Iliza’s set was amazing and I wish she could have had a better crowd and venue.
Great performance! But the staff…
I can never get enough of an Iliza show. She is absolutely phenomenal, and worth seeing every time. I sat in the second section back, and I appreciated the screens on either side of the stage so that I can really see her facial expressions. However, there were a few things related to staff that kind of bothered me. The first being that security did not have a trashcan available for mace to be thrown out. I forgot that I had mine in my purse, and I was perfectly OK with throwing it out. That was my mistake. However they did not have any type of receptacle or been available for me to dispose of it, and I had to go on the hunt for a trashcan which in a very crowded space was very uncomfortable. I had already had to fight through the crowd to get over to the security line, and then I had to do it a second time. Also, why the heck are we making women throw their mace out? It’s a personal security measure, not a weapon. But OK… Then when we went to find our seats we had to talk to three different staff members to figure out where the heck we were supposed to be. It wasn’t super clear and we got different directions each time. That was really aggravating. As an additional note, I do not come down to the casinos very often. When I arrived I realized I didn’t know which floor the Event Center was on, and there was no signs posted, or information on the ticket as to which floor the show was happening on. I think these little things could’ve been a lot more streamlined and would have made a lot of people a lot less anxious
Great show but…
First the good news: Iliza and the two supporting comedians were all excellent. Great show in front of a packed house. The venue is comfortable and the audio quality was very good.
The bad news: there was nowhere to self park; the Encore parking structure was completely full, with dozens of cars searching futilely for spaces and plenty of gridlock due to poor traffic light timing and too many cars searching in vain for somewhere to park. Not wanting to miss the show, we elected to valet park after too much time in the parking mess. Like most everything at the Wynn/Encore, this was a wildly overpriced decision ($40 before tip!).
Consider this before deciding to see anyone at this venue.
